Bushcraft Day

 

Junior Bushcraft Courses on the Raleigh Estate

This one-day course provides a gentle introduction to bushcraft skills.

 

Activities include:

 

Traditional & primitive fire making
Learn the essential skill of fire-building and keeping yourself warm.  We look at a variety of methods to get that all-important camp fire going.

Natural shelter building
Learn how to make a shelter using the materials nature gives you.  Shelter building requires real teamwork and not a little bit of problem solving!

Wood carving
Children are shown in a safe environment how to make some of the essential tools they need to make life easier out in the bush.

Campfire cooking
Fires not only provide warmth, they're the key to your lunch!  You'll be preparing and cooking your own food - you haven't lived until you've tried campfire pizza!
 
All tasks are carefully designed to help children explore the natural world around them in a safe environment.

The Raleigh Estate has a close working relationship with Young Spirit, a collaboration between two experienced adventure providers - Adventure Challenge & Spirit of Adventure.
 
Young Spirit provide Devon-based expeditions & courses that are challenging, enjoyable and accessible to all.  Their aim to create truly memorable outdoor experiences for primary age children.
 
Spirit of Adventure is an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) licence provider with an excellent safety record.
